6 of the Top Herbs are in Redd Remedies Products

The American Botanical Council recently published their list of 2018’s top selling herbs, and 6 of the top 7 are included in many of our targeted natural supplement formulas.

Top Selling – Horehound

Although it may not be as well known to the general population as many other herbs, horehound (Marrubium vulgare) is a soothing herb that has been used since ancient times. Often made into a candy or syrup to soothe the throat and promote respiratory health, we include it in all flavors of our tasty and effective Throat Drops (https://blog.reddremedies.com/product/throat-drops/).

The second herb on the list, echinacea, is sold as a tincture, tea and in a variety of herbal combinations.

Terrific Turmeric

Originating in India and used for culinary, cosmetic, artistic and ceremonial purposes, use and cultivation of turmeric (Curcuma longa) has spread throughout Asia and on to the Caribbean and Americas. Widespread recognition of its immune support and healing properties led to its listing as the third highest selling herb in 2018.

We include turmeric root extract in our Joint Health Advanced™ and Nerve Shield™ products.

Levels of and types of curcuminoids may be quite different in various turmeric supplements and ingredients, due to growing conditions, time since harvest, storage care, etc. (https://blog.reddremedies.com/curcumin-varies-in-strength-and-effectiveness/).

We have a single ingredient supplement that delivers Curcumin C3 Reduct™ (standardized to include 95% tetrahydrocurcuminoids), and for our Curcumin T4™ products, we selected Curcumin C3 Complex™ (standardized to include 95% tetrahydrocurcuminoids).

Elderberry, Green Tea and Ginger

It is gratifying to see awareness about the health effects of these next three herbs raised so much recently. Elderberry (Sambucus nigra) has a powerful effect on the immune system that scientists are studying carefully; we include its flowers in our SinuZyme™ to support immune system health and promote normal respiratory secretions. Green tea (Camellia sinensis) has bioactive compounds that support health on many levels; we include it in our Cholesterol Triple Care™ for its support of arterial lining integrity and its involvement in the antioxidant processes.

Ginger (Zingiber officinale) is well known for its support of health and comfort in the digestive system, but its benefits extend to other body systems as well. In our new Immune Vrl Pro™, we include ginger for its support of the respiratory system as well as the digestive system, which is so vital to overall health and well-being. Its support of respiratory health is why we also include it in our formulas for Lung Care™ and all flavors of our Throat Drops. Another benefit of ginger is support for healthy circulation; this, along with its immune support, is why you will find it in our formulas for healthy uric acid levels, Gouch!™ and Gouch! Liquid™.

Ivy Leaf

Well known visually as it creeps up the side of buildings, ivy leaf (Hedera helix) has complex constituents that have proven to be effective in supporting respiratory function and health (https://blog.reddremedies.com/ancient-medicinal-herbs/).

Ivy leaf extract is included in our Adult Sinus Support™ and our chewable Children’s Sinus Support™ for respiratory wellness. It is also included in our Throat & Bronchial Syrup™ to help sooth occasional bronchial irritation.

Selecting the Best

When developing our formulas, we look at an ingredient’s effectiveness and safety, not its sales and popularity. We choose the ingredients that we feel will deliver the best results in the short run and support overall health and well-being with long-term use. As more people find out about the effectiveness of the herbs we use, their sales and popularity rise. We continue to be committed to helping our customers nourish and support their bodies to achieve balance and wellness, to put health in order.
