What Do Clinical Trials Show About EstroG-100 and Menopause Symptoms?

Summary

EstroG-100 is a blend of three traditional herbs studied in human menopause trials lasting up to 12 weeks. Three placebo-controlled studies found symptom improvements that built over 6 to 12 weeks, and trials that measured estrogen and FSH found no change.

Key Takeaways

  • Three placebo-controlled trials ran 12 weeks.
  • Symptom scores improved gradually, starting around week 6.
  • Blood estrogen and FSH stayed unchanged.
  • Hot flash results differed between trials and analyses

If you’ve done everything you were told and you’re still waking up damp at 3 a.m., you’re not failing. The approach may be incomplete.

Menopause symptoms rarely arrive one at a time. Hot flashes, broken sleep, a short fuse, aching joints, and fatigue tend to show up together, so a fix aimed at only one of them often leaves the rest untouched.

EstroG-100 is a combination of three herbs, studied in human trials in the United States, South Korea, Iran, and India. This post covers what those trials found and where the evidence is limited.

What is EstroG-100, and what is in it?

EstroG-100 is a standardized blend of root extracts from three plants used in traditional Korean and Chinese herbal practice: Cynanchum wilfordii, Phlomis umbrosa, and Angelica gigas. [1]

Standardized means the extract is made to a consistent recipe and checked for marker compounds, so one batch matches the next. [2]

The Korean trial used 514 mg of extract per day, split into two capsules. [3]

Does EstroG-100 work like estrogen?

No. Lab testing found no estrogen-like activity in human cell tests, and no increase in uterine weight in rats whose ovaries had been removed. [1]

In the US trial, blood estrogen and FSH, a pituitary hormone that rises after menopause, did not change significantly. [2]

The Korean trial found the same pattern for both hormones, plus no significant change in uterine lining thickness. [3]

Researchers say the exact way EstroG-100 works is still not clear, and that is worth knowing before you decide anything. [2]

How does EstroG-100 compare with black cohosh and soy isoflavones?

Evidence for the best-known plant options has been inconsistent. The authors of the US trial point out that black cohosh and soy isoflavones have each produced both positive and disappointing results in placebo-controlled studies. [2]

That is why the quality of the comparison matters more than the name on the label. A plant ingredient earns trust when it is tested against placebo, in more than one country, with the symptoms you care about measured directly.

EstroG-100 now has several trials of that kind, with some mixed findings that are covered below. If black cohosh has not worked for you, our post on why black cohosh falls short explains the likely reasons.

What have the human trials found?

Three placebo-controlled trials and one single-group study make up the human research on EstroG-100 alone. A placebo is a look-alike capsule with no active ingredient.

The US trial enrolled pre-, peri-, and postmenopausal women with moderate to severe symptoms. Sixty-one were analyzed after taking one tablet twice a day for 12 weeks. [2]

Their total scores on the Kupperman Menopausal Index, a standard symptom checklist, fell from 29.5 to 11.3 on EstroG-100. [2] Placebo scores moved from 29.2 to 23.7. [2]

The Korean trial ran at three hospitals in women aged 40 to 70. Among the 99 women analyzed, total scores fell about 20 points on EstroG-100 versus about 14 on placebo at week 12. [3]

In the Iranian trial, postmenopausal women recorded their hot flashes weekly while taking two capsules a day. [4] By week 6, the EstroG-100 group reported fewer mild, moderate, and severe hot flashes than placebo, and the gap held at week 12. [4]

The Indian study had no placebo group, but its Menopause Rating Scale scores fell from 33.3 to 6.7 over 12 weeks. [5] Hot flashes, sleep problems, anxiety, irritability, joint discomfort, and vaginal dryness all scored lower. [5]

Because nobody was taking a placebo, it supports the other trials rather than standing on its own.

Study Design Women analyzed Length What improved Limits
Chang 2012, US [2] Placebo-controlled 61 12 weeks Total symptom score; hot flashes, sleep, nervousness, mood, fatigue, joint aches, vaginal dryness Small trial
Kim 2022, Korea [3] Placebo-controlled, 3 hospitals 99 12 weeks Total symptom score; fatigue, nervousness, mood, dizziness, tingling, joint and muscle aches Hot flashes not clearly different in main analysis
Farzaneh 2024, Iran [4] Placebo-controlled 70 12 weeks Hot flash frequency (mild, moderate, severe) Small pilot; liver function not measured
Kirubamani 2024, India [5] Single group, open-label 58 12 weeks Total symptom score; hot flashes, sleep, mood, vaginal dryness No placebo group; company-funded

Which symptoms improved, and how long did it take?

Improvement built gradually, over weeks rather than days.

In the US trial, total symptom scores had already dropped to 13.6 by week 6, then kept improving through week 12. [2]

In the Iranian trial, moderate hot flashes were already fewer than placebo by week 3, while mild and severe ones took until week 6 to separate. [4]

Beyond hot flashes, the Korean trial found better results than placebo for fatigue, nervousness, mood balance, dizziness, tingling, and joint and muscle aches. [3]

Sleep improved versus placebo in the US trial. [2] It did not differ significantly from placebo in the Korean trial. [3]

Vaginal dryness also improved versus placebo in the US trial. [2]

If you try any ingredient studied this way, a simple symptom diary from day one helps you see change that is easy to miss day to day. The trials relied on diaries and checklists for the same reason.

Who should check with a doctor before trying EstroG-100?

Anyone who takes prescription medication, uses hormone-based products, or has a significant health history should talk with a healthcare provider first. The trials screened out many of these women, so the results do not show how EstroG-100 behaves for them. [2]

The US trial reported no adverse events. [2] The Korean trial recorded 12 mostly mild events on EstroG-100 and 8 on placebo, a difference that was not statistically significant. [3]

Where does MenoWise™ fit in?

Redd Remedies is one of the few supplement companies with a Master Herbalist on staff, and that background shapes how we read research like this.

MenoWise™ is built around EstroG-100, paired with Shatavari root, a traditional herb included for libido and stress support. It is designed for the whole transition, from perimenopause through post-menopause, and does not contain black cohosh.

One honest note: the trials above tested EstroG-100 itself, not MenoWise™ as a finished formula.

The research speaks to a window of up to 12 weeks, which is a fair frame for what to expect. The product page lists the full ingredient panel if you want to see how it is put together.

Frequently Asked Questions about EstroG- 100

How long does EstroG-100 take to work?

In the placebo-controlled trials, improvements built over 6 to 12 weeks rather than days. [2] Individual response varies.

Is EstroG-100 a hormone?

No, it is a plant extract. Lab testing found no estrogen-like activity. [1] Blood estrogen and FSH also stayed unchanged in the US trial. [2]

Does EstroG-100 help with hot flashes?

Results are encouraging but mixed. The Iranian trial found fewer hot flashes of every severity than placebo. [4] The Korean trial found no clear difference in its main analysis. [3]

Has EstroG-100 been studied in perimenopause?

Yes. The US trial included pre-, peri-, and postmenopausal women. [2] MenoWise™ is designed to support the whole transition.

Is there long-term safety data on EstroG-100?

Not in these trials, which ran 12 weeks or less. The authors of the Iranian trial called for longer follow-up and liver testing. [4]

Can I take EstroG-100 with my medications?

The trials were not designed to test drug interactions, so talk with your doctor or pharmacist before starting. You may want to check with your doctor a few months after starting MenoWise™ to see if you still need the same dose of your medication.
